IBBY Congress 2024 has landed at Pordenonelegge, which has recognised its value by granting it its patronage: vice-president Franco Fornaroli presented it this morning as part of a meeting for schools organised at the Vendramini Institute, which saw the participation of Silvana Sola, past president of IBBY Italy and national head of the BILL project, and Carlo Marconi, author of “Poesie del Camminare”.
Fornaroli spoke to the young men and women present about IBBY’s journey over these first 70 years, telling the story of founder Jella Lepman, her love of books, her commitment to young people that led her to create an international library in Munich and then to found IBBY, an association – recalled the vice president – that aims to promote good books and to bring together those who promote reading and quality books for children and young people. They will be the ones to animate the 39th International Congress scheduled to take place in Trieste from 30 August to 1 September 2024.
