OFFICIAL PRESENTATION OF 2024 IBBY CONGRESS AT THE BOLOGNA CHILDREN’S BOOK FAIR

During the 2023 Bologna Children’s Book Fair from 6-9 March, IBBY was allocated ample space to advertise its next congress, including an animated screen welcoming all participants upon their arrival at the Fair and panels displaying Alessandro Sanna’s official poster throughout the venue, as well as a dedicated Congress stand accessed daily by many international visitors.
2024 Congress themes and upcoming deadlines were officially presented at the annual IBBY International Press Conference and at the other dedicated events by Elisabetta Lippolis, IBBY Italia executive board member and co-ordinator of the organizing committee. Meetings included a dialogue with Chiara Carminati, author and Roberto Piumini, author and president of the Scientific Committee, about what it means to “make a revolution” with quality children’s books, at the presence of Franco Fornaroli, IBBY Italia’s vice-president. Collaboration to ensure the widest participation to the Congress, already active with some sections such as IBBY Slovenia, as well as neighbor/border countries who have been invited to facilitate young readers to have an active part in the event, was further strengthened during the Meeting of the European IBBY Sections held during the Fair.
A “Join the revolution!” international poster contest was also launched at BCBF, designed to promote and leave a historical memory of the event by calling illustrators and graphic designers to give shape to what is the pronouncement of the congress, enclosed in its title.
