TOWARDS CONGRESS 2024: IBBY ITALY MEETS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND MEMBERS OF IBBY EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

On the occasion of the meeting of the BRAW jury for the Bologna Ragazzi Award, the prize established by Bologna Children’s Book Fair for the best and most innovative illustrated books worldwide, members of IBBY International Congress’ Organising Committee had the opportunity to meet with Carolina Ballester, Executive Director of IBBY International since September 2022; Doris Breitmoser, Head of Relations for IBBY Germany; and Junko Yokota, Executive Director of IBBY USA, both members of IBBY International’s Executive Committee.
In addition to addressing issues related to the next Congress, it was the opportunity to learn about the working methods of other IBBY sections in the world and re-enforce ties, even more so in view of 2024 appointment in Trieste. As Carolina Ballester underlined at the end of the meeting, “we must all continue to be close, supportive, seek common projects. Even more so in a period of great economic crisis, precariousness and uncertainty”.
We are working hard on our next Congress, to underline the revolution that good books make, a radical change towards a society that builds bridges rather than walls. A revolution which is also made by valuing of our differences and joining forces towards a common goal.
